Privacy policy

Last updated 19 October 2026

Kept Pay is a free UK take-home pay calculator at keptpay.uk. This policy explains what personal data is involved when you use it, under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. In short: your figures are worked out on your own device, there are no accounts, and we do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

Who we are

Kept Pay is run by its founder, an individual based in the United Kingdom, who is the controller for the personal data described here. You can contact us at hello@keptpay.uk.

The figures you enter

Your salary, tax code and other settings are used by your browser to work out the results. They are not sent to us and we do not create accounts.

The address of the page holds your settings, so copying the link shares them, and anyone you give a link to can see the settings in it. Links contain no name or email address, so do not type personal details into labels you plan to share.

When your browser loads a page

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical information about each request: your IP address, browser type, the address requested (including any calculator settings in it) and the time. Cloudflare does this for us as our processor and keeps these logs for a limited time. We do not use them to identify you.

Visitor statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites and does not build a profile of you. It records the page you visited, the site that sent you, your browser type, your country and how quickly the page loaded, and we see only totals.

Preview images for shared links

When a link to a calculation is shared in a chat app or on social media, that app may ask our preview service for a picture. The request carries the settings in the link, which the service uses to draw the picture. The picture may be stored for a few days so it can be shown again quickly. It does not identify anyone.

Email you send us

Email to hello@keptpay.uk is forwarded to our mailbox. We use your address and message only to reply and to deal with any follow-up, and we delete the conversation within two years of our last exchange. Our email forwarding and mailbox providers process your message to deliver it.

Our legal basis

We rely on our legitimate interests in running, measuring and securing a free website and in answering people who contact us. We have weighed these against your interests, and the data involved is minimal.

Data outside the UK

Cloudflare and our email providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on protections recognised under UK law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement and Addendum.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or share your data for marketing.
  • We do not use advertising or cross-site trackers.
  • We do not build a profile of you or make automated decisions about you.

Your rights

Email hello@keptpay.uk to use any of these rights. We will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

  • Ask for a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct it or delete it.
  • Ask us to limit or stop using it, or object to how we use it.

Complain to the ICO

Children

The calculator is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if anything changes, and will ask for your permission before adding any advertising or other tracking that needs it. Last updated 19 October 2026.
