Student Loan Repayments

Loan Repayments
UK student loans are repaid through your pay, or through Self Assessment if you are self-employed. You pay a percentage of what you earn above a threshold, so a low income means a small or no repayment. Use the chart to see the cost at different incomes.
Repayment thresholds and rates
| Plan | Annual threshold | Repayment rate |
|---|---|---|
| Plan 1 | £26,900 | 9% |
| Plan 2 | £29,385 | 9% |
| Plan 4 | £33,795 | 9% |
| Plan 5 | £25,000 | 9% |
| Postgraduate Loan | £21,000 | 6% |

Work out how long your loan will take to clear. Enter what you owe today and your current pay. The projection assumes the repayment threshold stays where it is and interest builds monthly, so treat the dates as a guide.
Types of Student Loan

Living or working abroad
You still have to repay if you move overseas. You need to tell the Student Loans Company, and the repayment thresholds can differ from the UK ones, so check what applies to the country you are living in.
